The Friday Five

This week's Friday Five is:

Five places I want to visit:

1. New Zealand (Long before the LOTR craze, I wanted to visit this varied and beautiful land.)

2. The British Museum (I could LIVE there for a month and not see everything I want to there)

3) Split Rock Lighthouse on the north shore of Lake Superior. (Anyone know the tune to "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"?)

4) The Oriental Institute of Chicago (Amazing ancient artifacts from the Middle East)

5) Sturbridge Village (I'm a colonial illiterate and I have a promised of a tour from a guide who lives not far from there.)

How about you? Where do you wanna go?

7 comments:

  1. 1. I'd like to visit Australia and to visit my friend Kaz in Melbourne.

    2. I'd like to go back to Heidelberg, Germany. Any chance of that coming true, Frau?

    3. I'd like to travel to see the Aurora Borealis.

    4. I'd love a chance to poke among the ruins of Greece and see the island of Santini thought to have been the site of the lost city of Atlantis.

    5. I'd like to travel to any city for an Outlaw round up

  4. 1. Australia has always been a "want to" in my book

    2. Back to London; this time to not work in two churches for 8 weeks, but to sightsee for that length of time!

    3. Anywhere on the North Shore of Minnesota (and yes, I do know the tune to the Edmund Fitzgerald... just be glad I didn't sing the whole thing that Sunday I used a portion of it as a sermon illustration!!)

    4. Alaska

    5. Take my bride to see Sweden (I was there the spring prior to our wedding)

  5. 1. I'd love to spend about three months in England. Aside from my Scotch-Irish-English heritage, my favorite author was British, and I have written a historical set in Portsmouth, so I'd love to spend just a month there.

    2. A tour of Austro-German-Swiss castles.

    3. Romania--specifically the Dacia region, which is where my family name (Dacus) originated. (And a side trip to Transylvania, just for the sake of saying I've been.)

    4. Odesa, Ukraine. I once wrote a character who was from here and did a lot of research on the city/area and would love to visit.

    5. Like just about everyone else, Australia has been on my list since before the Sydney Olympics.

  6. Donna Alice--
I'm with you! But I had to be realistic with my expectations.

  7. Ooooooo, I'd love to travel--it's easier to ask me where I DON'T want to go! Have you ever watched Globe Trekker on PBS? Let's see if I can narrow it down to 5.

    1. St. Lucia--island in the Carribbean where we honeymooned, i'd go back in a heartbeat.

    2. Russia

    3. Amazon

    4. British Isles

    5. Eastern Europe
