It's beginning to look a lot like...

Christmas!!!!!

Part of the big news around here is that I signed a contract to write a Christmas Novella to be included in Barbour's 2011 Collection: A Log Cabin Christmas.

As you can see, I've installed a new word meter for this story, entitled Christmas Service.

The plan is to finish the first draft of this story on Wednesday. Yep, THIS Wednesday.

I'm totally in love with this story, and I can't wait for folks to read it. Thank you to Becky Germany at Barbour for giving me the chance to write for her.

Question of the Day: What's your favorite Christmas Story (We'll assume the Biblical Nativity story is #1 with everyone.)  My favorite holiday movie is Scrooge, with Alastair Sim. I can't have Christmas without watching that film.

Also, tomorrow is my husband's birthday. Happy Birthday, Peter! I Love you with all of my heart and a piece of my liver! :)

  4. Christmas??? I'm happy for your good news, but not at all ready to think about the approach of Christmas. I have too much to do before then. Seriously, happy birthday to your husband and congratulations on the contract. That's exciting!

We have a collection of Christmas movies that we watch every year. It's a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street are two of my favourite old ones, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a favourite newer one.

  5. This is the second "Christmas" post I read today - oh dear. so not ready to be even thinking about it, but congrats on the story.
I have to say that one of my favorite stories is It's a Wondeful Life. But, one of my favorite channels to watch during the holidays is Hallmark because there are new movies every year.

  6. Amy told me I must head over to your blog because I too wrote a Christmas post today (ladyscribes.blogspot.com, if you're interested :)) I think A Christmas Carol probably wins favorite Christmas story for me. I love movie adaptations of it, my favorites being A Muppet Christmas Carol and the new one with Jim Carrey. Best of luck on your new story!!

  11. Cool! Congrats Erica! I always watch the following movies at Christmas when I'm wrapping gifts: It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, The Nativity Story, White Christmas and Elf. And while I am not proud of it I have actually never seen A Miracle on 34th Street. Now THAT's weird Heather!

  12. Congratulations!

I was listening to Christmas music in my car today. It's in the air.

    Scrooge (Alistair Sim version)

    Scrooged

I also like Miracle on 34th Street (original version), though that was actually a summer film originally.
