The Friday Five

It's a No!

This week's Friday Five is...

Five things I said I would never do, and ended up doing...

1. My kids will NEVER have to take piano lessons. (We started with lessons when James was 7. He's now 16.5)

2. I will never have long hair again. (It's past my shoulders right now.)

3. I will never homeschool. (This is year 15.)

4. I will never do the company bookkeeping. (Been doing it since 2006.)

5. I will never tell my kids "Because I said so, that's why!" (Um, pretty sure I blew that the first time my kid asked "Why?"

What about you? What have you said that you would never do and wound up doing?

  1. I said I would never put my child in school (I was the opposite from you!) and she's been there for three years and our second started this year. :( It was a hard decision to make after having the twins. Someday I hope to homeschool - but I've learned to never say never again.

    1. Twins would change a lot of things! If I'd have had twins, I would've had to backtrack on a LOT of things I've said in the past. :D

  2. Oh, I couldn't resist commenting!
I said I would never marry anyone in the military -- or a doctor.
(Yep, my husband was an Air Force physician -- now in solo practice.)
I said I didn't want children. (We have four.)
I said I would never write fiction -- I was happy as a nonfiction writer. (Crossed over to the Dark Side and my first novel came out this past May.)
I believe God's best is often behind the door marked "Never."

    Great post, Erica.

    1. That is so cool! God's best is often behind the door marked "Never." I'm going to remember that and perhaps start peeking behind some of those "Never" doors.

  3. I said I would never broccoli. It's my favorite vegetable. I said I'd never be stern with my kids over their rooms being a mess. I'm a look under the bed, in the closet, behind the dresser kind of mom.

Loved your Friday five, Erica! As always!

    1. I've never tried a green smoothie. I keep thinking it should taste like mint or pistachios with that color and I'm afraid I'd be disappointed if it tasted like veg.

  6. LOL A lot of things. My backbone isn't very thick. I'm pretty sure I'll never homeschool though...I don't have it in me! Just the thought makes my roots start turning gray. Heh.
    Cute post, girlie!

    1. It's not as scary as I thought it would be, but I realize it isn't for everyone. I'm down to my last two years since my baby is a junior in HS this year. Hard to believe it's been that long!

  7. LOL, Jessica--homeschool is like a magnet that draws us all in....

Let's see, what have I said I'd never do. Well, I firmly haven't done them. Ha! I'm pretty sure I'll never move out of town, but someone is testing my resolve ;)
