Planning a trip

My husband and I are planning a little road trip to Florida in a few weeks. The vast majority of Civil War sites lie between me in Minnesota and the Sunshine State, so many that it's hard to pinpoint where we should stop and what we should see.

I'd love some help. If you have a favorite Civil War site or museum, share it with me here. Our schedule is wide open for some adventure!

    1. Ooo, putting that one on the list of possibles. It wouldn't be too far off our beaten path.

  2. Just about anywhere in VA. My favorite spot is Lexington, VA. There is many sites around. Stonewall Jackson is buried there and you can tour his home. The ghost tour is great fun. Washington and Lee University is there where Robert E Lee is buried, as well as his horse, Traveler. I love the downtown. So quiet and not crowded. Close by is Appomattox where you can tour the house where Lee surrendered and the rest of the village. One of the museums of the Conderacy is near Appomattox.
There's always Richmond too. Lots of Conferderate history there, as well.
I hope you have a safe trip! Have fun!

    1. Amy, I think Virginia will be a little north of our travels. We're hitting Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Florida, and on the return trip, possibly Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana. I'll put Richmond and Lexington on the "Someday" list of cool places to see! :)

Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga. We'll be there late July. Well, in Cleveland, at Caitlin's school. Close enough. :-)
